How we count
- Only aggregates. No organization or person is named or identifiable here. States with fewer than five verified organizations, and organizations that haven't given a state, are grouped as "Other".
- Verified organizations are those our staff have checked (charities against the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search) and that aren't suspended.
- Hours of help adds up completed exchanges (one credit is one hour of help, as agreed by both sides), mentoring sessions the mentee confirmed, and completed workshops (each counted up to eight hours).
- Credits moved counts credits that went from one organization to another: completed exchanges, gifts, and grants from funder and company pools. Welcome grants and earnings from the community pool aren't included. Credits have no cash value.
- By area counts exchanges made from a listing, under the listing's area; exchanges proposed directly between two organizations have no area and are counted only in the totals.
- Mentorships counts those accepted (active or completed); peer circles counts circles forming or active; workshops held counts completed events.
- Did it help? counts the answers to the check-in each side gets a week after an exchange or a mentoring completes. They're shown only from five answers up.
- We don't estimate a dollar value. After each calendar year, staff publish an annual report from the same records.
